Future of Black America

A Flooded City: Black Data in the Urban Agrarian Future. Visual Concept Design By Tim Fielder

Imagine a typical American coastal City impacted by rising oceans, growing temperatures, and common day AI. Visualize the surviving citizens of color connected by virtual data residences and vertical farm co-ops. To survive racism and altered economic options, the human spirit and will to live allows the people to prosper in the ever-changing environment.

Visual Afrofuturist and Graphic Novelist, Tim Fielder will showcase 2d and 3d software imaging techniques that employ Horizon Scanning and Foresight to generate concept designs that depict a future narrative that may be all too real. Content generation techniques will employ Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk’s 3dsmax, and Epic Games Unreal Engine towards the presentation.

Tim Fielder is an Illustrator, concept designer, cartoonist, and animator born in Tupelo, Mississippi,
and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi. He has a lifelong love of Visual Afrofutuism, Pulp entertainment, and
action films. He holds other Afrofuturists such as Samuel R Delany, Octavia Butler, Pedro Bell, and Overton
Lloyd as major influences. He is known for the graphic novel, INFINITUM: An Afrofuturist Tale, published by HarperCollins Amistad in 2021, and the Glyph Award winning ‘Matty’s Rocket’.
